Congrats to our friend, Sean!
Milk is the first movie that I got to visit the set when it was filming and it is the first major premiere that I got to attend (at the Castro Theatre here in SF), and I am so excited that Sean Penn (friend and supporter) won the Academy Award for Best Actor. In my opinion, Sean deserved the Oscar! It is so awesome, too, that such an incredible personality as Harvey Milk, who was so important to San Francisco, in so many more ways than just civil rights for the gay community, was honored in such a courageous performance!
My friend, Lance Black, also deserves congratulations for getting the Academy Award for best original screenplay. One day when Lance and I were visiting shortly after the premiere, he told me that Harvey Milk was his hero and inspiration and he really brought Milk and that era to life for the big screen.
