Open Memo to Barack Obama: Step Down off of Russia's Ass! by Cindy Sheehan W/WHITEHOUSE.GOV RESPONSE(EDITED 10/21/16)

To: US President Barack Obama

From: Cindy Sheehan
Subject: Step down from Russia

cc: US Adjunct Secretary of War John Kerry

I don’t know how much control you have over this bellicose Empire, but as apparent head of it, I felt compelled to reach out to you one more time.

I have been trying to warn you and warn the people of the US for almost eight years now that your thirst for blood and continuation of wars and starting more wars would eventually come to really bite you in the ass and now it has in a big way.

Barack, you really need to step down off of Russia’s ass right now. In the recent past, you and your Empire have really only provoked war against weak nations that could not mount a very credible defense, but Russia? How seriously moronic can you be?

Look, in case you didn’t know it, Russia has nukes and no matter what I feel about Russia and its leader Vladimir Putin, they are not one of your weaker nations that cannot fight back.

Russia has reportedly just tested nuclear bombs. Now another nuclear power, China is joining in the Russia-Syria alliance.

I know you have a bunker for you and your family just in case the mushroom clouds start to “bloom” all over this planet, but I think the rest of us will be far more fortunate to go in the initial bombardment.

It’s obvious you don’t care about me or my children and grandchildren, (or anyone else in the world) but how can you even begin to be comfortable in condemning your daughters to a world forever doomed to nuclear winter?

You were the first African American president, but do you really want to go down in a non-existent future as the first African American president to start WWIII?

I demand that you BACK OFF of your illegal policy of regime change in the sovereign nation of Syria for starters. Don't you have enough problems just in your own country without worrying about the issues in Syria? Even if this crisis is averted, the world cannot last long with the US Imperial jackboot print all over the planet.

Wouldn’t you rather be the first African American president who made gigantic strides towards a peaceful planet than to be infamous as the one who destroyed it?

For gods’ sake and the sake of the planet, Barack, back off!

REPLY  FROM WHITEHOUSE.GOV 10/21/16

Thank you for writing.  By his actions, Russian President Vladimir Putin has demonstrated a rejection of the bedrock principles of European and global security.  The occupation and attempted annexation of the Crimean Peninsula in Ukraine, Russia’s ongoing destabilizing activities in eastern Ukraine, the support of Syria’s brutal dictator Bashar al‑Assad, and the crackdown on basic civil liberties within its own borders have only served to increase Russian isolation from the rest of the world.  The United States has reiterated our commitment to defend ourselves and our allies against Russian intimidation and hostility and to work to ensure Russia’s coercion against its neighbors does not succeed.

My Administration has strongly condemned Russia’s occupation of Crimea, which violates international law and Ukrainian territorial sovereignty.  We responded by joining our allies to swiftly enact economic sanctions targeting top individuals in the Russian government and arms industry, as well as the critical financial, energy, and defense sectors of their economy.  Additionally, the United States has reinforced our commitment to NATO and collective defense by coordinating with our allies to temporarily relocate military equipment and conduct training exercises in Baltic and Central European countries.  And in order to make our partners in this region more resilient against Russian coercion and aggression, we are working to strengthen democratic institutions, embrace open economies, and diversify energy supplies.

The United States will continue to work with Russia in areas where we share pragmatic common interests, including promoting nonproliferation, advancing nuclear safety and security, preventing atrocities and humanitarian crises, and combatting violent extremism and terrorism.  In this spirit of cooperation, we invite Russia to work toward an inclusive transition of power in Syria and to end their attempts to prop up Assad—a dictator rejected by a majority of the Syrian people.

Since the end of the Cold War, America’s goal has been to integrate a strong and prosperous Russia into the international community as a constructive stakeholder through investment, trade, and security cooperation.  As President, I welcome the day when Russia returns as a participant in the international system that is willing to respect the territorial integrity of countries and the rights of individual citizens.  America stands with our allies when Russian leadership takes action to undermine these aims, and we will continue to lead with persistent, steady resolve.

Sincerely,
Barack Obama

  1. Right now we need your human rationality to overrule your animal drive to prove that the US is the top dog. For the sake of all our children, stand down.

  2. Regardless of your deal with Saudi Arabia over their concession to the Iran deal, you have got to stop waging proxy wars in Syria and Yemen so Dick Cheney, Jacob Rothschild and Rupert Murdoch can exploit their oil resources and profiteer off our illegal wars!

  3. We need to seize power from these war mongers before it's too late. What effect would it have on ordinary people if Assad stays in power? Would it really be better for Syrians if jihadist warlords took power in that country?

  4. Thank you Cindy for expressing what is so obvious to those who care about being civil and who care about having a sustainable future. The two most important challenges facing humanity are one to learn to live with other peoples, and two to live with enough respect for other species to allow the complex weave of life on our Mother Earth to continue. Obama you are taking us in the wrong direction when you continue the neocon plan for endless war. You should make an effort to change direction so we can have a future with peace.
